As a crisis counselor I take texts from people texting to 741741 as well as some other crisis lines that are in the collaborative network. I went through a 12 cohort training involving many skills including; good contact techniques, assessing safety from suicide and self harm, deescalation, safety planning and much more. This is an incredibly positive aspect of my life now, yes it is heartbreaking at times but it is still worth it. The best part is that I'm a volunteer; I'm not doing it for money but rather out of love for others.
